Tony’s birthday

When Tony was eight, one of his presents was a new scarf. ‘It’s better than my new comics and computer games,’ he thought. It was yellow and blue – his favourite colours. He wore it every day. After four weeks, his father said, ‘Tony, your scarf is very dirty now. We must wash it.’

The next morning, before breakfast, Tony washed the scarf carefully in a bowl of water. After breakfast, he put it in the garden because it was wet. Then he went to school.
