THE LAW

AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING SOME ARTICLES OF THE LAW OF VIETNAM

Pursuant to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam;

The National Assembly promulgates the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Vietnamese nationality No. 24/2008/QH12.

Article 1.

Amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Vietnamese nationality:

1. Article 13 is amended and supplemented as follows:

“ Article 13. People with Vietnamese nationality

1. Persons with Vietnamese nationality include persons holding Vietnamese nationality until the effective date of this Law and persons holding Vietnamese nationality in accordance with this Law.

2. Overseas Vietnamese who have not lost their Vietnamese nationality as prescribed by Vietnamese law before the effective date of this Law shall still have Vietnamese nationality.

Overseas Vietnamese who have not lost their Vietnamese nationality but do not have papers to prove their Vietnamese nationality as prescribed in Article 11 of this Law shall register with overseas Vietnamese representative missions for identification. have Vietnamese nationality and issue a Vietnamese Passport.

The Government shall detail this clause."

2. Clause 3, Article 26 is annulled .

Article 2.

This Law takes effect from the date of its publication.

This Law was passed by the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, term XIII, 7th session, on June 24, 2014.
